The Department of Public Administration and Policy administers the masters and Ph.D. programs in public administration while offering select undergraduate courses. The department has recently added courses at every level, expanded the academic offerings in public policy, and built new specializations into the MPA Program.

In the current rankings of masters programs in public affairs published by the U.S. News &World Report, the University of Georgia MPA program continues to be ranked fourth in the nation from among approximately 250 programs considered. The Georgia MPA has the highest national ranking of any degree program at The University of Georgia.
We continue to enhance our relationship with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, co-sponsor of our MPA Program and an important partner with us in building excellence in public service in Georgia, across the country, and now around the world.
The Department of Public Administration and Policy is located within the School of Public and International Affairs. The program is overseen by the Deans of SPIA and the Graduate School as well as the Director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
Departmental faculty and students have continued to distinguish themselves with honors and awards. Our doctoral graduates are sought after by the top research universities in the U.S., and sometimes abroad. Recent graduates of our top-ranked MPA program have moved into positions of public-service leadership in many governments in the U.S. and abroad. MPA students have also been recipients of prestigious Presidential Management Fellowships.
